    RL24: Sail No 221
    My son & I have just bought this RL24 & would like to know a bit of it's history if at all possible. It appears to be a Mark 111 or a late Mark 11. Some of the equipment is marked with the name Dont Blink which could have been the name of the boat. We haven't had a chance to sail it yet as we have just taken possession of it. It is kept on a mooring in the Gold Coast area & it has a DROP KEEL. All of the sails are marked with the same number, 221, so I guess that is probably the correct number for the boat. It has a full set of Elvstrom sails plus a North mainsail.

    There is a reference to RL24 # 221 in a Register of Owners dated March 1981 which I have but no name is recorded. This register was given to me by June (Legg) who used to keep very accurate tabs on where RLs were located. The boat is also listed in the Register of Owners attached to this website and is named as Don't Blink. There are owners names and a contact site given which may assist you in your research. Welcome to the RL "family" - I'm sure you'll enjoy your new boat.

    Thanks for that information. I have tried to contact the previous owner (Gavin Ayre) as listed in the register of owners but so far no response has been received. My son & I will be on the water in the next couple of weeks & we are looking forward to that greatly. The person I bought the boat from was a Dr. Michael Freeman, a dermatologist from the Gold Coast, who I guess is the same Michael Freeman who gets a mention in the "History Of The RL24" on this site. He bought the boat from a boatyard in NSW but doesn't know anything more about it.
    There are quite a few RL24's here on the Gold Coast & I guess I will get to meet them once we are on the water.Thanks for your help.

    Thank you all very much for your help. Gavin Ayre has been in touch with me & given an update on the recent history of the boat, which was very much appreciated. The boat is located at Paradise Point, not far from where Rob & June Legg used to live. My son & I hope to be on the water in about 2 weeks & are looking forward to it. We would like to thank the operator of this website as the information on here is limitless. I will send some photos in to the website when we are done.
