Tyres for RL24 Tandem trailer
I'm an ocean sailor who is brand new to trailable yachts having just purchased a RL24.
It came on a tandem trailer with 600X9 6 ply tyres on alloy wheels. One had burst although the ex-owner said it was new. His spare is a 500X10 which looks the same OD.
MY question, I can buy three used 10inch rims with fairly good tyres for the same price as a new 600X9 tyre and tube. Which is better? Or are they the same??
thanks heaps. Northern NSW

Re: Tyres for RL24 Tandem trailer
Check the load rating on the tyres. I think you'll find the 9" wheels are rated significantly higher than the 10" ones.
They also offer an advantage over 13" wheels in that they keep the trailer lower and you should be able to launch and retrieve without dunking the bearings.
Cheers
