Re: RL 28 Keel raising
Do you have a hydraulic keel or a wind up wire system?

Re: RL 28 Keel raising
John,

The keel on the RL28 should be quite easy to raise and I would find it difficult to justify the considerable expense of putting in an electric pump. If yours is difficult to raise or takes many pumps (more than 20, from memory) it might be worth getting the hydraulic pump serviced first.

Another possibility is that the keel has corroded and the corrosion is scraping against the case making it difficult to raise. There have been various people addressing that issue on this forum recently. If it is slow to drop, that could indicate a corroded keel.

Re: RL 28 Keel raising
Thanks for your input guys. My keel is hydraulic and all is working ok.I am planning on sailing in Gippsland a lot and read of Rings and Things keel mods that make it automatically raise when it touches bottom. As I am not getting any younger I thought this would be good. Have sourced a power unit for power-boat trim tabs for a bit over $300 but don't know how to set up the auto bit.
