What type of sails , boom and mast suits an RL24
I am looking for the above and thought it might be the cheapest option to get the complete rig off another boat-perhaps something like one of the Hobie off the beach catamarans.
Has anyone done this kind of thing and can give me some advice?

Hi Peter
I remember seeing the same question in an early post from an American owner. I'm pretty sure Rob Legg answered that a Hobie 16 rig and sails is a good fit.
It was an old post, so there might be something now with with a more modern whippy mast.
cheers, Peter

I believe a few people are using a skiff rig at the moment, if your anywhere near RQYS this weekend you will get a lot advice from the participants of the RL24 Nationals

Thanks for that information-the mast I have at present seems very heavy and has been repaired quite a few times.

Re: What type of sails , boom and mast suits an RL24
Hi I think I might be the American Peter is referring. I am an expat Victorian living in Canada and have been trying to reassemble my RL24 for the last few years. 5 months of winter and no chandlers within 2000km has slowed me down. I have a mast from an Aquarius 23 at the moment and it is heavy. I would love to know how successful a Hobie 16 mast and sail transplant would work.
Cheers Ric
