Replying to:why build a new RL
I have just been reading last years discussion on building new RL's. Why would you bother? There are so many secondhand ones for sale for less than the fittings are worth. I have one that is 38 years old and still as good as the day it was built. it is a very seaworthy boat which i have been cruising in for the last 15 years in open water. At 71 i now find it to big to handle and have moved to a smaller rig. I tried for some time to sell my RL for $5000.00 fully riged with no success so have now stripped it and am offering the bare boat and trailer with mast boom and deck fittings for $3000.00 as i can use the rigging, sails, and stuff on my next project. What a shame that so many good hulls are going to waste. Mark.
