Sooo I the u- bolt holding the windward shroud ripped backing plate and all through the deck.
My American built RL24 outside shroud ripped through my deck along with the 6 in by 12 in aluminum backing plate. The PO attempted a cabin top core replacement which is now saturated. What should I do patch the hole in the deck and switch to hull mounted chain plates and record the cabin when absolutely necessary. OR, take the whole FG cabin off out to the flange and rebuild it with 3/8 marine plywood stringers and epoxy. I could make new cabin top flush with the gunnel and gain some comfort inside. I'm a tall fat American trying to get the most out of this boat, or throwing in the towel. I have repaired the keelbolt successfully last winter after a dramatic failure followed by the slow sad intrusion of lake water. Any advice is apreciated.
