The Bay to Bay

The Bay to Bay race is the sailing highlight for many RL and Status sailors from Queensland and New South Wales
and entries are welcome from other states and territories that have not previously been represented at the Bay to Bay.

The Notice of Race and Online Entry are available from the Hervey Bay Sailing Club website

Registrations are open for the Annual Bay to Bay Trailable Yacht Race from early February each year

The Hervey Bay Sailing Club invites entries from eligible trailable
standard, sports like and sports boat monohulls and standard and
sports multihull yachts to sail this approximately 90km long Category 5
event with limited rescue boat availability on the waters of the Tin Can Bay Inlet,
the Great Sandy Strait and Hervey Bay between Tin Can Bay and Hervey Bay
with an overnight stop in Garrys Anchorage between Stewart Island and Fraser Island
and a trophy presentation function at the Hervey Bay Boat Club Urangan.

The event will be sailed over the May Labour Day long weekend with
Leg 1 Tin Can Bay to Garrys Anchorage 1100hrs to 1600hrs on Saturday,
Leg 2 Garrys Anchorage to Hervey Bay 0730hrs to 1530hrs on Sunday
and with trophy presentation at 2000hrs on Sunday at the Hervey Bay Boat Club.

Bay to Bay RL Challenge Trophy

A great bonus for RL sailors in the Bay to Bay is the RL Challenge Trophy.

The trophy was hand crafted by Rob Legg and is the Holy Grail for RL sailors.

It is awarded on PBH corrected time for all RL boats, so all you have to do is enter the Bay to Bay
and sail really really really well on a personal level to stand a chance of having your name on the trophy.

If Apaches crew posed less for photos and paid more attention to the kite............

Paul Harris (Steel Away) took this shot of Apache (left) and Hart Beat (right) not long after the day 2 start. These 2 RL's were 2nd and 3rd in the RL Challenge. I don't think anyone got close enough to Go For It to get a photo.
