Composting toilets anyone ever fitted one to a boat?
Hi, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with composting tiolets (airhead, natures head etc) fitted to RL or other?

No, but I know where I can get my hands on a Airhead and am seriously tempted as everything that I have read is in their favour.
I think it comes down to how much you are going to use it!

I have read various on line blogs and reviews and are almost sold on the idea. What I am concerned about is that they need to be vented to the outside with an extraction fan. I wonder if when on deck if the extracted venting would cause a smell downwind. No one on cruising boats has mentioned it but the RL is a smaller boat

I don't think there would be muck smell, from what I've read the system works by keeping the solids and liquids seperate. It's combining the two that creates the pong. The exhaust fan (solar/battery) draws air over the composting medium and quickliy dries it out, therefore-no smell.
The blurb and reviews that I've read claim that if used properly there is the least smell of all the systems that are available.
Worst case you could always run the vent up the mast LOL
