RL24 backstay
Looking for info about removing backstage on Rl24. Just bought a square top main and wondering how people have modified boat to deal with it. Photo of spreaders and chainplates added. TIA

Re: RL24 backstay
Hi Stu, I am not certain what you mean by backstage, Im guessing backstays. Im not aware of an RL having a back stay
Others can definitely answer this better than me, however

There are RL24's out there that sail with the spreaders still in place and a square top main.
There are also RL's out there that have no spreaders as well ( or at least that I can see )

Re: RL24 backstay
Hi Stu
Most rigs without backstays have spreaders that are more swept back than yours

Re: RL24 backstay
Don't know if this is relevant but an adjustable backstay changes the shape of the top of the main, can help in different wind conditions.
