Maintainence on RL24 drop keel
On my last trip I swam under the boat with the keel down and saw a patch of fibreglass flapping off the side of the keel-about the size of a slice of bread. Have known for some time that the fibreglass on the bottom of the keel has been worn down to the lead however it now looks as though I will have to remove the keel and fibreglass it.
A few questions-does the fibreglass adhere well to the underlying material (lead and what else-perhaps galvanised steel?)
Has there been a discussion on this topic already?
The sail number is 303 (Excalibre is the name) and by word of mouth it was one of the earliest RLs to be converted from a hinged keel to a drop keel Thanks Peter
