RL 28 motor mount modification measurements
Has anyone made the motor mount/lift modification for an RL 28 listed by Peter Johannsen in the tips and modification section? I would be interested to hear how well it worked and the approximate measurements of the brackets. Cheers Marcus

Re: RL 28 motor mount modification measurements
Hi Mark i have made a modification which allows full tilt of both honda 9.9 4s and merc 15 2s.
worked very well on our trip on the murray earlier this month
give me a ring

Re: RL 28 motor mount modification measurements
There is another approach that is used on nx25's and vandastat 23 (mini tonner) but dont have any pics of those.
would be worth your while checking them out
i am very happy with mine seems to work just fine but you do need to disable the o/b's own tilting mechanism otherwise it will tilt there and foul the hull. was simply 2 strong zip ties to fix it in down position on the merc not as much a problem with the honda , must have had a lock mechanism built in.

Re: RL 28 motor mount modification measurements
Looks like you have done a great job on the motor mount and like that you have minimized the fibreglass that you cut away. I am mainly looking at it for the Mercury 4s I have added and for mooring and drying the boat out. The motor is pretty tight in the well so will have to do some very careful calculations to make sure it will clear the rear as it lifts. Will give you a call on the weekend to find out a bit more detail about what you did with yours. Cheers Mark
