I would like to convert our RL28 Pendragon from a 3/4 rigging to a mast-top rigging. Does anyone know where to get a mast-top assembly that fits a standard RL28 mast.
Joost, I am not sure what is happening regards sailing your yacht but there are a few things worth checking before you would need to consider converting her to a mast head rig.
I assume there are some handling issues, seek help from a competent sailor that is use to sailing fractional rigs or pay a sail maker to look at your setup.
Changing to a mast head rig would normally involve shifting the mast back and fitting suitable sails for the new rig.
My RL24 is considered light by most sailors, My reef is single line and reduces the mainsail height by 2 meters. In light airs I retain the excellent characteristics of the fractional rig and when reefed I have a very stable boat with enough sail to maneuver safely.

Our RL 28 has a mast head rig and I know of another RL28 that was converted without shifting the mast and there was no increase in weather helm or any other negative result from this change in rig but there is definitely a big gain to be had in performance.
