    Sail Cloth Selection
    I'm curious as to why most of the faster boats use membrane mainsails but still choose Dacron for the jibs. Is there a class restriction or does the size of the jib work better using Dacron. Thanks

    Hi Peter, Not sure where you are watching the faster boats but I have just come from the RL24 Nationals where the top 5 boats in the drop keel division were carrying membrane sails most of them 3DL, and two out of the top 4 swing keels had membrane 3DL sails. There are no class restrictions on sail cloth, the dacron sails tend to put up with a bit more flogging than the membrane sails, so they need extra care.
