| | Re: RL24 Sheets and Halyard Size | Chris, it will depend on your boat and where things are positioned etc.
My halyards all come right back to the cockpit so using the figures here (http://rlyachts.net/NorthSails.asp) ......
Main 7550mm x 2 plus 2300mm across and back to cockpit = 17,400mm
Jib 5765mm plus 6325mm (halyard sheave to bow) plus 2300mm across and back to cockpit = 14,390mm
Spin 6450mm plus 6955mm (halyard sheave to bow) plus 2300mm across and back = 15,705mm.
A couple of things. If you want to get extra time out of them, the wear on halyards generally occurs at the sheave so if you add another half metre or so you can just cut the halyard where it wears (if and when it does) and get a second life out of it.
Further, if you want to use your main halyard as a boom holder upperer (I forget what they're called) add another metre to the main halyard.
With your sheets, you really can only get the tape measure out because everyone sheets them differently.

| Re: RL24 Sheets and Halyard Size | When I replaced mine on both my '24 & my '28, I bought lengths from Ropes Galore in Sydney, I used spectra and trimmed them to preferred length after installation. The extra has become very handy for all sorts of jobs around the boat. When you trim, make sure you leave enough to secure the halyard away from the mast if you are in a situation where you leave the mast up.
I used 6mm for the halyards and 10mm pre-stretch for the sheets, its all about hand strength and comfort as far as diameters are concerned.
