Return to the Forum List just purchased old status 580 would any one know what year it would have been made | hi i have just purchased an old status 580 it is in fair condition with a few repairs need to get back on the water once i have done that and if she sails ok i will start a more comprehensive refurbishment.the main sail has the no 59 on it the hull is painted white but the jelcote underneath is a sky blue and the cockpit set up has seats built in i was told that it was a mark 2 as the earlier models did not have seats.i got it from the illawarra area and was told it sailed out of oak flats sailing club. What year would have it been built.what was her original name.status's no longer sail out of oak flats sailing club are there any clubs where they sail around sydney.

It’s original name was Vagabond when purchased in 1982 from Sydney Sailboat Centre, in Monavale. Paid $5,500. The name was change to DroppaJoy and remained that when sold in 1986. DroppaJoy was my dads nick name (Droppa) and my mum’s name (Joyce) - Joy. I believe 59 was only six to twelve months old when purchased in 1982. And it was a mark 2 design. Great memories of this boat. Cheers Jeff
