RL24 stays and chainplates
Hello All. I am located in Canada and I am still rebuilding an RL24 made in the USA. (sorry Rob but life got in the way). I have been looking at the Nationals pictures. It seems that many of the boats have chain plates mounted at the hull deck join with both inner and outer stays attached. The unit I have has the inner stays secured on the roof of the cabin and the outer is on the side deck. Both are secured to Ubolts. Is this a "normal" installation?

Re: RL24 stays and chainplates
Ric.
The wider the stays are mounted the less the compression on the mast, and as the RL24 head sails are sheeted inside the stays this set up is best, unlike the old fashioned boats that had overlapping head sails and had to sheet them outside the stays. U bolts are fine, and it would be helpful to you to study up "Tuning your RL24" on the RL24 page.

P.S. Still holding a page in my album for "Quappalle".
Do trucks still use Long lake for a highway in the winter?

Re: RL24 stays and chainplates
Hi Rob. I hope not to disappoint and get you a photo. Also yes they drive trucks e.g. F150 on the ice to their ice fishing shacks. The ice was about two feet thick not to long ago but spring is coming as the ice thins.
