Rain water in bilgr
I am getting water in the cockpit bilge when it rains. Anyone else with this problem?

Re: Rain water in bilgr
Yes. My former USA built boat does not have any access to the bilge. Any water that leaks in through the windows, or through the chainplates or any other attachment will run down the side of the hull into the area where the filler is below the floor. There is really no good way to get the water out of there, as there is wood filler between the floor and the bottom of the hull. The previous owner of my boat allowed water in there. It froze and split the bottom of the hull open next to the swing keel. Its really a bad design, as there is no way to get the water out. Even drilling into the floor, only gets you access to the wood. You can drill through the wood, but good luck on knowing when to stop before putting a hole in the hull. The wood gets waterlogged, so even if you have a hole, you can't really pump it out.
One other place to look will be if the swing keel is allowed to swing down too far. It will crack the front of the trunk, allowing water intrusion there. I had to patch mine there. I also drilled a hole through the patch and plugged it with a screw. At the end of the season I would remove the screw so any water that would get into the hull would drain out over the winter. It would drip water for days out of that hole.

Could you describe the location of the drain you installed a bit more? I (like many others) am struggling to eliminate the inner hull water intrusion issue common to north american RL'24s. Also, there is a North American tab at the bottom of the menu on the left side with lots of info on our boats.
