Alan has added a bulb keel, rebuilt the cockpit, and added a pop top dodger that can be locked down in heavy weather, when racing or lowering the mast. While the modifications are not for the
faint-hearted, he shows what can be done to turn an RL24 into a comfortable cruising boat.
The mods were undertaken to:
1. Improve the righting moment. (See Pull Down Test.)
2. Raise the cockpit floor above the waterline.
3. Increase room in the pipe berths and increase storage room under the cockpit floor.
4. Provide a large sail locker.
